At the beginning of August 2001, nomination forms
were sent to all advisers involved in AIM flotations. Nominated
advisers, nominated brokers, market makers, solicitors, accountants,
PR advisers, brokers, fund managers and AIM Awards Dinner table
hosts - in short the AIM "club" - were asked to nominate
up to three companies or individuals per category. The credentials
of the companies and individuals that were nominated for each of
the "voted for" categories were debated and discussed
by the full Voting Panel, which met at the offices of PricewaterhouseCoopers
over dinner on Tuesday 11 September, and whose members are shown
here.
Each panel member then confidentially allocated points,
with a minimum of zero points, and a maximum of ten points per nominated
company or individual. This process produced a short list of four
companies or individuals per category,
with the highest points scored providing the winner of each award.
Those panel members who had themselves been nominated
for an award in the Best Research category or whose company had
been nominated were specifically excluded from the panels
deliberations. Once a decision had been reached in this category,
the Best Research nominees were invited to take their places, and
the full Voting Panel
debated the credentials of the remaining nominees in the remaining
categories. The Best Performing
Share Award, being a factual award, was not deliberated upon
by the Voting Panel.
